How freeing would it be IF.... you avoided making this year about THIS year?
We are a society of instant gratification seekers. We want it, and we want it right freakin now. We don't have the time nor motivation to work hard at something as ridiculous as our own bodies. We gotta pay bills! We gotta take care of our kids. We need to relax, I just wanna relax! ....
Well, how do you pay those bills? How much energy is consumed when you're chasing after your munchkins? And Is relaxing even really enjoyable currently, or are you in pain and tight? sore or overworked from the day?
When we choose to set aside the time for ourselves we are better apt to take care of everything else in our lives. Don't lie to me and yourself that you don't have the time. You just don't have the motivation to make it. Sorry folks, that's the harsh reality of it. And what motivation could I possibly give you that would change years of struggle, neglect or overuse?
It's not that you could hit that PR by spring or lose all that baby weight by summer.
You're motivation, ladies and gentlemen, is to continue to live a long healthy life.
For most, the current state that you move, live, workout in, is riddled with flaws that without fixing will eventually lead to pain, discomfort, and injury. Are you someone that stands with their toes turned out naturally throughout the day? Were you even aware of that till just now? Do your shoulders sag in front of you unless you just realized that they were bugging you? When you squat do you go ass to grass where the entire burden of your load has been given to your ankle and knee joints?
We are built to move. You see it in our abilities as toddlers to move with complete, almost scary flexibility. Then we grow up and the kids that didn't have any athletic background typically lack range of motion (Myself!)Then there are your sports stars who played thru injury after injury, never releasing scar tissue and fascia, or mobilizing enough to keep their body supple and elastic enough to sustain trauma after trama.
You need healthy working, ACTIVE muscles to maintain your body. Your body is a great machine that will find a way to work through even the sloppiness of movements throughout the day. And although you might get away with picking up things with a rolled back or squatting in your toes today, a few years later the toll will add up, on your back, knees, and probably most of your connecting joints.
Time is necessary.
Work is necessary.
But time is constant and work is not...
How would you like to feel during this time you've been given?
The clock is ticking people. Catch up, or it will eventually catch you.
